There is such a huge lead up to Christmas. With all the hustle and bustle of the shops, pressies galore and making sure that supplies are in check because my goodness the shops are going to be closed for ONE WHOLE DAY!
My side of the family always celebrate Christmas Eve, a Polish tradition which actually suits us perfect as our Christmas day entails, opening more pressies at home, Ethan going to spend Christmas day at his dads and after that our house is open to whoever wants to pop in for some Christmas cheer aka food, wine and music!
It was my little niece’s first Christmas and as we are quite a loud bunch, poor Bonnie had no chance of sleeping. Especially with her cousins (my boys) running mad around the place, people talking, eating, drinking and having a great time. I tell you what, I take my hat off to my little sister, 4 weeks ago she had a baby, and rocking up to Christmas , presents in tow and looking so fabulous - I know I wouldn't have been able to be so organised!
Jack had had no sleep ALL DAY – I need to emphasise this as the entire afternoon he was either connected to Steve or I and by 8.30pm complete over tiredness kicked in and feral Jack arrived. Got to love a toddler! Omg help me.
I attempted my first trifle, a classic traditional Christmas desert. After watching 10 YouTube videos, I had a crack at it (who knew that jelly was so easy to make!) and I tell you what, it was bloody delish! Nom Nom… and still eating the leftovers today…Martha Stewart eat your heart out! Ok, maybe not Martha Stewart as I have a mouth on me like Gordon Ramsey - but you get where I'm going with this.
This little guy got spoilt crazy! Is it just me of is this selfie just the best? Peppa had to get into the photo – his new obsession – my new hate. Peppa crazy in this household – I am over Peppa Pig.
After Nanna’s visit Christmas morning and Ethan off to his dad’s for the day, little Jack lasted a few hours and crashed for a nap. So I had been making a feast Christmas lunch and with just the two of us, Steve and I enjoyed a quiet yet extravagant spread of roast pork, roast vegies, ham oh and more trifle. Did I mention more trifle? A date for two, on Christmas Day.
I am so thankful for the year that we have had. I am thankful for my little family and all of my friends near and far.
I started my blog earlier this year as a form of therapy, expression and a way to document my life, with my children, what we are up to, Autism awareness and it has slowly and organically grown to a little community.
To all of you that come around to have a read – thank you.
To everyone that follows a bit of bliss and mayhem on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter – thank you.
This is not a perfectly polished blog, you will find me blurting random stuff out and dropping the occasional but well needed f bomb. This is me. Warts and all and I cannot thank you enough.
