 Bliss&Mayhem Recommends

** from cheapest to most expensive**

  1. Grand Sinar Indah – Legian

Grand Sinar Indah

Where: Jl. Padma Utara, Legian, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

How much: Rooms start from $30 per night

What’s so great about it: This is my favourite budget accommodation so far and we will definitely staying here again. Because we love the tourist hub of Legian – it is close to all our favourite eateries, bars, massage places and more.

With 2 full size pools – all rooms over looking these, room service 24/7, super clean rooms and great working air conditioners, why wouldn’t you stay here!

** note ** the pool rooms on the ground floor are great to have easy access for a dip in the pool. The hotel has had some renovations done in recent years with the back end of the hotel being all new.

  1. Kusnadi Hotel – Legian

Kusnadi

Where: Jl. Werkudara Legian, Legian, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

How much: Rooms start from $50 per night

What’s so great about it: Are you looking for old charm Bali? Beautifully maintained traditional gardens and a boutique small style Oasis away from the busy streets on the outside? Kusnadi is then for you!

Offering Penthouse Rooms with 4 poster beds from $85 per night, Superior Rooms from $50 and Family Cottages (2 rooms, lounge, 2 Bathrooms and a front verandah to die for $100 per night)

The restaurant outlook is perfect for people watching and their prawn cocktail – yum!

  1. Baleka Hotel – Legian

Baleka

Where : Jalan Werkudara, Legian Kaja, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

How much: Rooms start from $50

What’s so great about it: With recent renovations done to add an extra pool – this hotel is loved by many for it’s location, swim up pool bar and great rooms. Only a 5 minute walk to the beach for your sunset drink, Baleka is one of my favourite place to check-in and relax.

Their family room – which consists of 2 humungous connecting rooms, both with stunning outdoor showers are beautiful. Each room also consists of a day bed and King Size bed so could easily fit 6 people in total.

  1. Puri Raja – Legian

Puri Raja

Where: Jl. Padma Utara, Legian, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

How much: Rooms start from $100 per night

What’s so great about it: Puri Raja will always be special to me as it was one of the first place I stayed when I visited Bali for the first time so many years ago. Their breakfast area overlooks the ocean, so while you are enjoying freshly squeezed juice with your banana pancakes, you can watch the waves rolling into the sand.

Beautiful, clean rooms in this narrow but long resort. The gardens are Instagram worthy and when walking through the place in the mornings to grab your breakfast, you’ll notice fresh Frangipani petals that have fallen onto the pathway throughout the night.

Offering 2 great pools – swim up bar – 24/7 room service as well as staffed drivers that you can hire.

  1. Kumala Pantai – Legian

Kumala Pantai

Where: l. Werkudara, Legian Kaja, Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

How much: Rooms start from $125 per night

What’s so great about it: Ooh lala is what I think when I step into the grounds of Kumala Pantai. Old Style Grandeur meets picturesque setting. This is a big resort boasting uber amounts of rooms. They do get booked up fast ( even 1 year in advance ) so if you are considering Kumala Pantai, book in asap to avoid disappointment.

  1. Hidden Garden Villas – Legian

Hidden Garden Villas

Where: Jl. Padma Utara, Gang Abdi no.10A, Legian, Kabupaten Badung, Bali, Indonesia

How much: Villas start from $160 per night.

What’s so great about it: I’m not a Villa type of gal, but we did stay here with our family of 5 a couple of years ago. What can I say? But perfect! No thank you to concrete modern jungle and hello to Balinese charm! Service impeccable, 24 hours security at your doorstep. Breakfast brought in each morning and your own pool!

I only used a travel agent on our first trip to Bali. I now book all my flights direct with the flight provider and check out SkyScanner to snap out the sale flights

Our accommodation I either book direct through the Hotel or through Agoda.

Do not write blog post when you have had a couple of wines

It's been a bad day.  Not a travesty, but a day of anxiety, overload of emotions, countless puffs from many a ciggies and all in all just a bleh.  Where the fuck has 2020 gone? How did we get from free world to lockdown and oppressions and wearing masks???? I  burnt my 2020 planner, close with my 2020 diary, because why the fuck, hey? Let's just write this year off as a mistake on a humanity scale and start fresh in 2021.  Funnily enough, I bought a $4 2021 diary. So there may be hope. My beloved is struggling. Which  means that I am struggling, Seeing him in pain, no sleep, swelling joint agony, depression and all the things that entail chronic illness. I'm at a loss as to how to help him, I just sit and be with him and tell him every day that i will be by his side till the rest of my days.  At least 2020 has shown us this: What actually is important in our life, What actually matters, like really really matters,  The latest model car o...

I had a hysterectomy at 37 years of age

This coming Wednesday will mark four weeks since my hysterectomy. It has been a long journey coming – this hysterectomy and with all the ailments that I had experienced over the last 20 years, including low grade cervical cancer, I could not have been happier seeing my uterus ripped out and put in the bin. That said, I am grateful that these organs allowed me to birth my two sons. They are the joys and absolute headaches of my life. I would (like most mothers I am sure) take a bullet for them and they always know that sanctuary of any sort will always be home for them. But a hysterectomy at 37 you say? Yes, I do admit that Google will tell you that this surgery is quite early in my life, but after two decades of agony, constant pain, bloating to the size of looking like I am six months pregnant and the fact that I had finished have all the children that I desired, it really was a no brainer. We live in rural Victoria. Our main town, Mildura has a hospital, and I was aware that ...

Is it Saturday or Sunday?

It is just before 6am as I sit here on my back porch watching the sun slowly rise for another day. What day is it? #isolyf has got me all confused to the day, date and month. With so many of us wishing and wanting “more time”, I have found myself getting bored of being bored and the motivation bug seems to come in slower and less frequently. How the world has changed in the unprecedented times, hey? It seems that here in #straya, we have quickly adapted to the powers that be and in the matter of weeks have become accustomed to the lack of interaction and movement. Does that concern you? How quickly we have been able to conform? I had to delete Facebook off my phone a few weeks ago as I was constantly checking #scomo and Googling “coronavirus” every other minute. The information overload brought on confusion as well as fear and I was working around feeling like doomsday was coming. The best thing that I did was switch off. The establishment news was only regurgitating stupidity ...
